I'd laugh if Microsoft said "You know, instead of paying you, we're just going to not sell Windows in Europe anymore. All our staff there will now be dedicated to making sure you bastards don't pirate it."

maybe they should just use Linux over there if they are so unhappy with MS. Oh wait, none of them would be able to do anything.

I personally don't think Microsoft have done anything wrong... If I ever sold a product I'd want it to be entirely up to me what I included in it. How dare someone say that you can't sell something because (some) people don't like it. If you don't like it then don't buy it. :P But I bet most people with Windows would prefer to have Windows Media player installed straight off on their system anyway, as I doubt most mainstream users want to go through the trouble in finding their own media player, browser, e-mail client, etc.

Oh yeah, great example of a monopoly...Windows Media Player. WFC?
And is anyone really serious about M$ server products to begin with? This is about the EU wanting to put a stranglehold on another big American company, for which there are no European competitors worth mentioning. Nothing more, nothing less. |

I don't even use WMP... I use media player classic.
IM? I use Trillian.
I use outlook for email, and IE for browsing only because I prefer it over Mozilla/Firefox (I used firefox for a while, some stuff didn't load right in it, and the plugin structure is a bit awkward).
I prefer having things bundled with my software, but yeah I like being able not to use it. I don't have messenger installed on this machine, but I know I had to disable it manually.
How are you supposed to get a browser though without a browser installed on your machine, especially on a fresh install?
