Jeez, get a clue guys. Xeons are the only available SLI platform out right now. If you were to buy this system you have the best gaming rig out there hands down. Nothing can come close. Alienware is a company that focuses on building gaming systems.

Please stop fellating AMD already. When Nvidia and Via gets their SLI shit together for AMD I'm sure Alienware will be ready with a rig in due time.

Xeon.. SLI? What's the chipset? I thought only NVIDIA was making SLI-capable chipsets.. and I didn't think they had a NetBurst license...

dual opterons
dual 6800ultra
4 gigs of low latancy memory
4 74gig raptors on a good PCI-X based raid 0
give me that, and I won't complain about my computer for a few years.

Can someone explaine to me the different levels of OPTERON processors. I would like to build a high end gaming rig by the end of this year. I am doing some massive research now. I also would like to use two NVIDIA cards with SLI. I am an avid gamer and use MS Flight Sim 2004 alot.

Remember this isn't meant to be the ultimate PC.. it's just the first SLI machine. Obviously the Ultimate Machine will be a dual Opteron 250 box. Alienware does use AMD chips too, so when the Nvidia NF4 dual Opteron SLI motherboards come out (January?) they'll have them. I think the Xeon MB is just for those people who can't wait a month and don't care about the absolute fastest CPU performance. Also, the Xeons aren't really BAD, they're just far from being the best. But for $6,000... I'll wait for the Opterons.

nVidia certified specific chipsets for use with SLI that weren't nVidia.

I think it was "tumwater" that was certified. It's whichever the most recent codename is. It's still not going to work the same as an nForce4 system will, but it is supposed to be close.
