I don't know much about Scout specifically, but there's lots of interest in general purpose computing using GPUs. Take a look at www.gpgpu.org . There are other languages like Brook that are also for doing generic (non graphics) computation with GPUs.
The most important recent development in the field is PCI-E. :-) That's because AGP has very low bandwidth going from the card to the CPU. This kind of compute likes to send lots of data both ways, unlike a game which just sends textures and polygons from the CPU to the GPU. |
