Nintendo is dead. Their marketing is clearly focused on < 12 year-olds, and I hate to say it, but this is not where you can be the most profitable... :-/

its not as if they have a choice on price, they can't charge more without alienating their remaining customers. so what choice do they have but to spin all their limitations as something incredible. low power from low price to small form factor to low resolution...its all for your benifit!

why not just save time and money and come out with a low resolution lcd addon for the gamecube. if the cube only has to render at say 300x200 or so then all that excess power and development resources can be used for better graphics and enhanced gameplay! forget about grahpics its all about gameplay! maybe rerelease the snes at 50 dollars and just develop for that again:P the gameplay will just dominate. graphics are so frivolous:P

i do agree that graphics do not make a game, but surely if you want Nintendo to be beat the rest of the compition, Nintendo could do so easly because not only would there games look fantastic, but they would have the advantage of the controller, and the exclusive games.

weigh it out :
PS3 +'s === good graphics, multimedia friendly, lots of games
Xbox 360 +'s === good graphics, out first, half way multimedia friendly, xbox live
Revolution +'s (could have been) === good graphics, amazing gameplay due to immersive feel from graphics and contoller, unique titles (that would look so good any1 would buy it for that sole reason), backwards compatible with older classics big N games, compatible with DS and such, Internet play (loads of players on games due to capable hardware giving rise to the possiblilty to new unique titles from the big N).

Now if Ninty went ahead like i said, then work out what console would be best. i know cost is a big factor to some of you, but seriously who pays $200 for a remake of the pathetic Gamecube.

I cant seem to get where Nintendo are coming up with these ideas that old school looking games are going to woop ass over some highly expressive, visually intense, cinematic game that may come out on the Xbox 360 or PS3.

I think personaly graphics of course are not number one, but the day i played Legend of Zelda: Ocerina of Time, i was in... i dont know how to explain it, but the little light things that buzzed about in the forest from the bigging of the game, the sheer size of freedom. It really blew me away, and the graphics DID make it that much more intense and mermorable. So how the hell can Nintendo go and scrap graphics and make games that look like the bottom of my foot and say : here play but dont look. Its totaly thick thinking if you ask me.

Although graphics in some cases, do not make a good game (cough DOOM 3) but if you think about... imagine an ugly Doom 3 with the same game play and story etc. Would it be scary? would it be intense? answers im guessing are NO. Why because the graphics SAVED it. Now theres something Nintendo should look into.

This ensures that Nintendo will be at least #2 in the console wars.

This is the first console that has me longing for fishing and cooking games, who'd knew...

even though I have disposable income for all systems (already have 360), I doubt I wiil buy a ps3 at launch. I will buy the revolution though. I like the fact that nintendo is trying something different. I play may DS much more than my psp - which is used mainly as a coffee table prop.

I think Nintendo will be tempted to sell the Revo for $199, but if they're smart they'll do it for $149. Actually, I wouldn't mind $199 though...but it should come with two controllers and a bundled game. Remember when consoles actually came out of the box with two controllers and a game? My Sega Genesis came with 2 gamepads, Altered Beast (which sucked) and a coupon for Sonic The Hedgehog (which was great). All for $199, IIRC.

In the ulikely event that I buy a console, this will be it. I figure the xbox360 and ps3 won't add much beyond what I can do on a PC, but the Revolution could have some unique games...

There was some info from IGN that reported that developers were saying that the Revolution has only 104MB of on system memory besides the 512MB of Flash Ram, which will probably not be utilized for the games themselves. And that the processor was no faster than twice of whats currently on the Xbox. The first Xbox.

Meaning that some developers were pegging the system to be anywhere from $100 to $199.

So, alot of this information seems conflicting.
