IIRC, this guy was one of the main engineers behind the K7 and to a lesser extent the K8.

Weirdness...today in my car I was listening to Morrissey - First of the Gang to Die ( correct title ? )
anyways, it goes " Hector was the first of the gang to die.... " So after i got to work all I could think about was "Hector Ruiz " ... and it took me about 3 hours to figure why I was thinking of that name... and then I get home from work and read about this.... I've got ESPN or something >_< |

Companies with engineers at the top have strong technical prowess.
Companies with managers are mediocre technically. Companies with accountants running things are doomed technically. Dirk as a major player = AMD on track. Intel was built by Andy Grove, an engineer. Craig Barret was a PhD in Materials Science and an academic - mostly a caretaker. Otellini has an MBA. I'm keeping my AMD stock. |

Lets hope that he can do some big things for AMD. Especially in the advertising area.
