I would love to see AMD take more away from the 800 pound gorilla. Intel's procs are about as fast as an 800 pound gorilla in comparison, and as warm and hungry.

I think the key this year will be Vista and Longhorn/Vista server performance. Also if Dell or HP went AMD for their corp desktops then intel would sh*t a brick.

My company is holding out for Vista before hardware purchases.

#8, YONAH?

Yonah is a next gen CPU running on a last gen FSB. It will run out of gas before the CPU fan spins up.

ey...i'm not a fanboy..all my computer's CPU since my 386 have been AMD chips..but reality is reality...AMD marketshare will be down this same year...

#12, 64 bits???...there are more notebooks than 64 bits opteron servers on this world...so that is enough for Yonah and variants (Sossaman) to grab more share than opteron servers and BTW where is my Windows2K 64 ???....muaahhahahah...and I repeat.

I'm not a FANBOY. AMD user since 1993. ;)

In your crazy dreams they will keep this til end of year...or after all this fanboy ride did you forgot about the 800 pounds gorilla at the end of tunnel....???

THE RIDE IS OVER FANBOYS..INTEL IS COMING BACK RIGHT NOW ! jeeeeeezzzz..what is the matter..still rooting for the underdog ??

Well this is good news. I think of it as fattening up before winter though, I expect amd to shed some pounds once the duo line starts to take off.

WOW! Now that's a huge jump for AMD in a single quarter. That's a 6% gain against Intel (3% up for AMD, 3% down for Intel). They need to keep this up and once their new Fab36 plant starts pumpin out processors I think we'll see the trend continue.
