Internal documents have been made available on the web by mistake and they want to host my private data?

Great. My cable connection will be bogged down by Mrs. Eleventhumbs up the street saving her 67 30-megabyte pictures of her stupid lapdog Fifi.

hmm, I use Novell iFolder.. very nice, secure, syncs data on my 2 desktops and 2 laptops.

http://www.novell.com/products/ifolder/overview.html

Managed by me, not some outside company, and all my data is encrypted.

That being said, its more of a corporate solution, most people wouldn't want/know how to set up a Netware or OES server to run this app, but its been around a while, Google's solution just makes it available to the average joe.

Has anything they've made come out of beta?

I email myself all my important documents, school papers and pictures I want to keep. Then I just use gmail/hotmail to store it. I'm pretty much using my email as an Internet storage medium already.

And with infinite storage, I can mirror their archives at home!

ahem. Be interesting to see how google’s take on a subscription service though.

Any sensative data is going directly on to my external 250GB hard drive, but I could actually see myself using it for simple backups of my school papers (to be accessed at school for example), a few funny pics to access on friend's computers, etc.

It's an evil idea to be sure, but one that is luring me into it's trap... :)

I would use this!

I would love to easily back up my data without having to use CDs or a RAID array.
