I know it seems kind of silly at times, but I think everyone is way too hard on this project. I do think there are more serious issues that can be solved with all of the money and effort that is being poured into the "one laptop per child" act, but it is a nice idea. If technology could be spread around the world, more people could enjoy what most of us have been spoiled with our whole lives. When people complain about slow technology, I always ask them if they want to go back to their last system; they usually shut up. Yes, these computers are slow and cheap, but I'd like to see any of you create something better.
Maybe a PDA would be a better idea. They can connect to the Internet, and some of the current models are already in the price range. Battery/power would be a big problem, but I'm sure there's an adapter or converter for that too. I think the intentions of this project are good and it is forcing people to look at development from a new perspective. They are cutting costs like never before and that should be commended. When this project started, I thought it was a complete waste of time but now I want to see them succeed and I think they deserve a little more support. I wish everyone would stop blowing off this project because they will not be able to use the laptops. Stop being so selfish people, this product is not meant for spoiled consumers. |
