So along this line of reasoning, Apple should be fined for shipping OSX with iTunes and Quicktime?
K-Lite Mega Codec Pack + Winamp = everything plays nicely, for free, no ads. |

Heh, as soon as I freshly format my computer, the first thing I do is download Windows Media Classic. And most people I know download winamp or some other player. I really don't see how bundling WMP in is hurting competition, as most of the competition is doing better it seems.

World+dog should just force MS to liscense it kernel to UI developers and be done with it. Heh, imagine the tantrum MS would throw. My from the cuff solution probably breaks a bunch of laws anyway.

I use WMP over evey other player out there simply because it works. I had VCL for a while and it had some issues with certain types. so I had another player for the "other" types. Then it hit me that WMP did fine with all of the types so I said WMP FTW.
IMO if MS released a WindowsXP without WMP no one would buy it.(very few anyway)
I sure as hell wouldn't and I'm 100% sure OEM's wouldn't use it either.
