The Chinese government has blocked access to in "most parts of China," according to a report by Yahoo News. Allegedly, users in large Chinese cities have had trouble connecting to the international flavor of Google for the past week, and the ban is beginning to cover Google News and Gmail, as well. Chinese users are therefore forced to use, Google's Chinese site, which censors search results. Google itself appears to be ignorant of the move: a Google spokesperson contacted by Agence France-Presse said, "we launched an investigation last week. . . . As long as we don't have more certain information, it would be irresponsible for us to comment more."
