Apple sues 25 John Does over "trade secrets"

— 12:05 AM on August 3, 2000

The AP is carrying a story about Apple suing 25 unknown, anonymous people for posting pictures and information about their dual-CPU G4 and their optical mouse before last week's MacWorld. The people posted the information under pseudonyms, and Apple says it "does not know the true names" of the lawsuits' defendants. In other words, they're suing 25 people, but they have no idea what their names are, where they live, how they obtained the information they stole, or even if they're American citizens. It's obvious Apple is just trying to save face, although I can't really see why they'd care. It's not like Dell is making dual-CPU G4 boxes. At least, I hope they aren't.
