In an unusual move, Sierra has decided to isolate the multiplayer component from Monolith's horror shooter F.E.A.R. and release it for free as F.E.A.R. Combat. The free multiplayer game will be made available for download on August 17, although gamers will need to sign up at joinfear.com to get a license key before being able to play. F.E.A.R. Combat will include:
- 10 Multiplayer Game modes.To top it off, users of F.E.A.R. Combat will also be able to play with owners of the full retail-boxed game. Thanks to Shacknews for the link.

- 12 different weapons.
- Punkbuster support for anti cheat support.
- The capability to download user generated content.
