First 80nm Nvidia GPUs to ship next month

— 2:29 PM on August 21, 2006

TSMC will begin shipping the first Nvidia graphics processors based on 80nm process technology in the middle of next month, HKEPC reports. Those GPUs, known as G73-N-B1 and G73-H-B1, will reportedly be die-shrunk versions of Nvidia's existing G73 graphics processor that powers GeForce 7600-series graphics cards. The G73-N-B1 will be a basic, pin-compatible die-shrink of the G73, while HKEPC's sources say the G73-H-B1 will also integrate High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection and HDMI output support. Both G73-B1 chips are supposedly intended for the OEM market, with Nvidia still pondering a possible retail introduction.
