Willy coming late to the party?
JC's reported it first, and now The Register has confirmed with some of its sources that Intel's Pentium 4 (Willamette) may be hitting the streets a little bit later than anticipated. JC tags this one as definitely just a rumor, but here's the scoop:
On Wednesday, allegedly, OEMs were informed that the Pentium 4 introduction will be delayed for a period of eight weeks. This will apparently not affect the "2000 H2" target for announcement -- it's more a matter of the intro moving from late Q3 to mid Q4 or from early Q4 to late Q4; the specific date details I do not have.
Not a huge delay, but if you were counting on getting yourself a spiffy new P4 system for Christmas, you may have a bright future as an AMD customer.
