ATI to change Radeon X1900 GT speeds, features

— 1:10 AM on September 8, 2006

Just over a day after the launch of Nvidia's GeForce 7900 GS and GeForce 7950 GT graphics cards, the guys over at Beyond3D have learned that ATI plans to do some fiddling with its Radeon X1900 GT. The red team will reportedly decrease the Radeon X1900 GT's core clock speed from 575MHz to 512MHz and increase its memory speed from 600MHz (1.2GHz effective) to 660MHz. Additionally, the updated card will feature a new cooler intended to lower noise levels, and support for High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP). HDCP support is also standard in the new GeForce 7950 GT, but it's only an option on the cheaper GeForce 7900 GS.
