Sony VP: European consumers don't mind delays

European consumers won't mind the PlayStation 3's four-month delay in Europe, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe VP Jamie MacDonald has told in an interview. MacDonald was asked what he might say to European Sony fans who may feel they are neglected because of their geographical location, and he replied with the following:

European consumers have shown that historically they don't mind that, because they end up buying as many PlayStations, if not more, than the US and Japan. In Europe, it doesn't seem that the release of our platforms after the US and Japan - in the long run - affects how consumers feel.
Paradoxically, when asked if he was disappointed to learn about the delay, MacDonald said he was "absolutely gutted" because he was "looking forward to having a PlayStation 3 under the Christmas tree." However, he then added, "If we were sitting here in five years' time, I don't think we'd really think about or notice that PlayStation 3 was four or five months later in Europe."
