Firefox 2.0 slips out of Mozilla early

— 1:53 PM on October 23, 2006

As Mozilla prepares to officially introduce the next major version of its Firefox web browser tomorrow, the software has already popped up on the company's FTP servers. Mozilla's main FTP site has Firefox 2.0 available for download here in Linux, Mac, or 32-bit Windows flavors, and a mirror at that currently offers the same files at faster speeds. As with previous release candidate builds, the final version of Firefox 2.0 brings a host of enhancements including a new default theme, better tabbed browsing, session saving, in-line spell checking, phishing protection, better RSS feed support, better integrated search, and more. The new browser feels a little snappier, too, and memory usage looks to be down compared to previous 1.5.x versions.
