Corsair adds funky heatsinks to DDR2-800 RAM

— 11:32 AM on October 30, 2006

This summer, we saw the introduction of Corsair's new "Dominator" DDR2-1111 and DDR2-1066 memory modules with novel "Dual-Path Heat Xchange" heatsinks. The heatsinks feature fins that poke out above the memory module, offering increased surface area without taking up precious horizontal space.

For overclockers without bottomless wallets, Corsair has now introduced a cheaper offering (PDF) in its Dominator line that still features the comb-style heatsink. The Dominator Series Twin2X2048-6400C4D is a 2GB dual-channel kit clocked at a more reasonable 800MHz with rated latency timings of 4-4-4-12 and support for Enhanced Performance Profiles. Corsair doesn't quote pricing for the new modules, but they should be cheaper than the company's other Dominators, which run between $378 and $700 according to our price search engine.
