Notebook sales hit record high in October
While this seems to be a dreadful quarter for motherboards, notebook sales are doing pretty well. DigiTimes reports that Taiwanese companies Quanta and Compal, the world's two biggest original design manufacturers of notebooks, enjoyed record revenue last month. The two companies saw their revenue rise a respective 21.9% and 19.8% in just one month, and they expect sales to continue increasing this quarter. Compal shipped 1.65 million notebooks in October alone, while Quanta managed a whopping two million units. The rise occurred in spite of notebook processor shortages that were reported early last month, and it can likely be attributed to high demand brought on by sinking prices as well as the coming holiday season.
