Antec intros new 80% efficient power supplies

— 2:23 PM on November 20, 2006

A trio of new power supplies has joined Antec's lineup. Like the company's NeoHE models, the new PSUs are marketed as power-efficient. This time, however, Antec has sought 80 Plus efficiency certification and dubbed the new power supplies "EarthWatts." The EarthWatts series is launching in 380W, 430W, and 500W variants. All three models feature dual +12V rails, at least 80% efficiency at 100% load, active power factor correction, and compliance with the European Union's Restriction of Hazardous Substances directive. Somewhat disappointingly, though, Antec cools all three units with a single 80mm fan, which suggests higher noise levels than competing high-efficiency offerings from companies like Seasonic that often have larger 120mm fans.
