Xbox 360 to get PC keyboard, mouse adapter

— 2:43 PM on November 30, 2006

If you're a PC gamer shaking your fist in the general direction of Redmond, Washington due to the present lack of PC ports for games like Halo 2 and Gears of War, you may be pleasantly surprised by a new device dubbed the 360 XFPS. Unveiled by a small company known as XCM, the 360 XFPS is a multi-purpose adapter designed to let Xbox 360 owners play games with a standard PC mouse and keyboard. What's more, the adapter also lets users hook a PlayStation 2 DualShock 2 controller to their Xbox 360. Both USB and PS/2 keyboards and mice are supported, and XCM says the 360 XFPS will come out "really soon." In the meantime, the company mentions that users can pre-order it from a handful of stores worldwide, including eXtreme-Mods in the U.S. and in Europe. As Joystiq warns, though, Microsoft could very well attempt to detect and disable devices like the 360 XFPS in future software updates for the Xbox 360.
