Quad FX finally to hit online retailers?

— 10:00 AM on December 19, 2006

More than two weeks have now passed since AMD launched its Quad FX platform. Quad FX systems are available from a handful of system builders, but the dual-processor kits and motherboards are still nowhere to be found in the retail market. That's all about to change, though, according to The Inquirer. The site has heard that Newegg has already received stock of Quad FX CPUs and mobos, and that "it's a matter of hours" before the retailer announces their availability. The hardware includes three dual-processor kits—$999 Athlon 64 FX-74s, $799 Athlon 64 FX-72s, and $599 Athlon 64 FX-70s—as well as the only launch motherboard, Asus' $349.99 L1N64-SLI WS.
