In addition to its new Core 2 Quad Q6600 for desktops, Intel has just announced a pair of quad-core processors in the Xeon 3000 series, aimed at single-socket servers. Like the Q6600, the Xeon X3220 runs at 2.4GHz on a 1066MHz bus and will list for $851. The Xeon X3210 is slower and more affordable at 2.13GHz and $690. These processors have a total of 8MB of L2 cache, with 4MB shared between the two cores on each chip of this dual-chip design.
