New SanDisk player takes on the Zune

The world's second-biggest seller of MP3 players has chosen CES to unveil a new device with shades of Microsoft's Zune. As eWeek reports, SanDisk's Sansa Connect offers Wi-Fi capability and has a $249.99 price tag, just like the Zune. Unlike the Zune, however, the player is flash-based and only includes 4GB of storage capacity.

What the Sansa Connect lacks in capacity it might make up for in Wi-Fi usefulness, though. eWeek says the Sansa Connect will allow users to connect to online music services where they can download and stream songs without a PC. What's more, users will also be able to share songs with both other Sansa Connect users and PC users through those services. The Zune's Wi-Fi feature, by contrast, can only be used to share songs and other files directly between users. SanDisk will make the Sansa Connect available in March.
