Little information has leaked out about Nvidia's plans for mainstream GeForce 8-series derivatives so far, but Chinese site Bear Eyes seems to have hit the jackpot. The site has published an article that lists specifications and prices for four upcoming mainstream and low-end G80-based Nvidia graphics cards. The models include GeForce 8600 and GeForce 8300 cards, and their purported specs are as follows:

Graphics card

Stream procs.

Core clock

Memory clock Memory size Price
GeForce 8600 Ultra 64 500MHz 700MHz 256/512MB $179
GeForce 8600 GT 48 350MHz 600MHz 128/256MB $149
GeForce 8300 GT 32 500MHz 600MHz 128/256MB $89-99
GeForce 8300 GS 24 500MHz 500MHz 128/256MB $69-79

Bear Eyes doesn't mention specific release dates for the cards, but Nordic Hardware claims Nvidia will introduce all four models in March—right around the same time ATI is expected to launch its R600 graphics chip. Other rumors also predict Nvidia will add a $299+ GeForce 8800 GTS card with 320MB of memory to its lineup in the middle of next month.
