Bioshock delayed until August

— 12:38 PM on March 1, 2007

Last month, a community manager for 2K Games disclosed that BioShock, the Unreal Engine 3-based spiritual successor to the System Shock series, would have no multiplayer component. Now, the same community manager says the game's release has been pushed back. Shacknews says BioShock was previously expected some time in June, but according to 2K Games, the title will now hit stores on August 21. Gamers in Europe will also have to wait a few more days, as 2K Games says in a separate announcement that BioShock won't make it to European store shelves until August 24. As before, however, the title is slated to come out simultaneously for the PC and Microsoft's Xbox 360 console. Screenshots, video trailers, and other details about BioShock are all available from the Cult of Rapture website.
