AMD issues first-quarter revenue warning

Amidst private equity buyout rumors that followed AMD's disappointing fourth-quarter financial results announcement, AMD has stated that its results for the first quarter of this year will also be below expectations. In January, the company said its first quarter revenue would be somewhere between $1.6 and $1.7 billion, a notable decrease from the $1.77 billion it posted for the fourth quarter. AMD now says it is "unlikely to meet" its first-quarter revenue guidance, although it declined to reveal exactly how much lower it now expects revenues to be for this quarter. According to the Associated Press, analysts surveyed by Thomson Financial were expecting AMD to post Q1 revenue of $1.66 billion before the warning was issued.
