Deal of the week: An even cheaper GeForce 8800

— 4:27 PM on March 16, 2007

We featured the new GeForce 8800 GTS 320MB in one of our deal posts when the card came out last month because it managed to squeeze the power of Nvidia's new G80 graphics processor below the $300 price point. We've now spotted an eVGA version of the card that's available for just $279.99 at Newegg. The online retailer even offers a $20 mail-in rebate that can bring the card's price down to a scant $259.99. This card isn't factory "overclocked" like some of its pricier siblings, but it does come with a lifetime warranty and a free copy of Dark Messiah of Might & Magic. We featured this card in our latest system guide, and we think it's weekly deal material, as well.

If you'd rather not upgrade your graphics card just yet, we also think one of the parts in our new system guide is worthy of a mention here: Corsair's 2GB DDR2-667 ValueSelect memory kit. We selected this kit for our deal post two weeks ago when its price was $149 at Mwave, but Newegg now offers it for just $139.99. Definitely not bad for 2GB of RAM, especially considering the very same kit cost close to $200 not long ago.
