OQO Model 02 ultra-mobile PC now shipping

In January, OQO unveiled a new Model 02 ultra-mobile PC measuring just 5.6" (14.2cm) wide and 1" (2.5cm) thick. Despite its diminutive size, the Model 02 still manages to squeeze a 800x480 display, slide-out QWERTY keyboard, 1.5GHz VIA C7-M processor, up to 1GB of RAM, and up to 60GB of storage in its tiny enclosure. The device also has VGA and HDMI outputs as well as 802.11g, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0, and optional WAN connectivity.

OQO has now announced that it has begun shipping the Model 02 UMPC. The device can be purchased from OQO's online store or "select enterprise and retail channels" with optional embedded Verizon Wireless or Sprint mobile broadband Internet access. Users will have to cough up a hefty $1,499 for the cheapest version of the Model 02, though. Pricier variants of the device can go well over the $2,000 mark, should users want to outfit the Model 02 with various accessory packs, docking stations, and extra software.
