Radeon: Unsafe at 166MHz?

— 12:29 AM on September 22, 2000

Kyle "Ralph Nader" Bennett at the OCP has been taking it to yet another big tech company. First it was NVIDIA, then he forced an Intel PIII 1.1GHz recall, and now he's taking on ATI. It seems the Canadian graphics giant has been shipping Radeons at various speeds without clearly explaining what's what. Reviewers got 183MHz cards, but most buyers are getting 166MHz chips. For the whole scoop, go read Kyle's editorial on the subject, then see the follow-up with a response from ATI. This may not be the scandal of the decade, but propsective Radeon buyers should know what they're getting into.
