Deal of the week: The incredible shrinking memory

— 4:50 PM on March 30, 2007

To complement Wednesday's news post about low demand and low prices in the memory market, we've selected two incredibly cheap memory kits for our weekly deal. In the Wednesday post, we remarked that Corsair's 2GB DDR2-667 ValueSelect memory kit was available for just over $120. Only two days have passed, and that kit is now available for $113.99 with $4.99 three-day shipping. However, we've found an even cheaper kit: Kingston's 2GB DDR2-667 ValueRAM bundle, which Newegg is selling for just $109.99 with free shipping. That's basically half what that very same kit cost last year, which makes it a fine deal indeed.

Of course, some people may want RAM with a little more oomph, so we've also found a sweet deal on a 2GB kit of DDR2-800 RAM. Corsair's 2GB TWIN2X2048-6400 kit is available for $169 at Newegg with free shipping, and the retailer is offering a $40 mail-in rebate that can bring the price down to a tantalizing $129.
