TR Forum Tidings: Making your PC quieter

— 7:56 PM on April 17, 2007

For this week's forum tidings post, we've selected the following thread by gerbil lurker MiserableSob. In the thread, MiserableSob asks for tips on making his computer quieter. Recommendations from other posters include the Zalman ZM-NBF 47, a passive heatsink solution that could replace his Asus A8N5X motherboard's chipset fan, and even Zalman's Reserator 1, a fan-less water cooling system that could allow him to do away with fan-based processor cooling. Other gerbils also recommend that he use quieter fans—some Scythe models are popular among enthusiasts who like quiet PCs—as well as a fan speed controller and a quiet power supply.

What about you? Have you ever had the urge to make your PC quieter, and if so, how did you go about it? Or do you just deal with noise with a good pair of headphones and loud music? If you have anything to contribute, feel free to hop in MiserableSob's thread and share your insights. As always, if you don't already have a forum account, you're welcome to get one here.
