Poll: AMD's Radeon HD 2900 XT—hot or not?
The subject of this week's poll is AMD's new Radeon HD 2900 XT. Six months behind Nvidia's GeForce 8800 GTX and GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB, the card offers performance roughly comparable to the latter, but with higher power consumption and noise levels than both. Some hear the death knell sounding for AMD, but others enjoy the card's CFAA antialiasing mode and aren't fazed by the fact that AMD didn't release a high-end model to compete with the 8800 GTX. With that in mind, what is your opinion of the card? Is it a complete disaster, or just nothing amazing? Or are you enamored with it for some reason or other? Feel free to vote and let us know.
In our previous poll, we asked you what antialiasing mode you typically used while gaming. Unsurprisingly, 33% of voters—the largest population—never uses AA, and another 12% of voters don't know or don't care. 15% of voters typically use 2X AA when gaming, and 30% use the 4X AA mode the most. The remaining 10% is split between folks who typically use 6X AA (2%), 8X AA (5%), or a better antialiasing mode than 8X AA (4%).
