Deal of the week: Storage and RAM

— 5:11 PM on June 1, 2007

For this week's deal post, we've dug up an old favorite of ours: Seagate's 320GB Barracuda 7200.10 hard drive. This model was the star of several deal posts as its price sunk further and further below $100, but it seemed to stay in the $90-95 range for the longest time. Well, today Newegg is offering this drive for $79.99 with free shipping. Like all Barracuda 7200.10 hard drives, this 320GB model has a 7200RPM spindle speed, 16MB of cache, support for 300MB/s Serial ATA and Native Command Queuing, and a five-year warranty. $79.99 for 320GB of space translates to slightly less than 25 cents per gigabyte, which is a fine deal indeed.

Our second selection for this deal post is this 2GB kit of Corsair ValueSelect DDR2-667 memory. Memory manufacturers have started to increase prices again after a long decline, but you wouldn't know it from this offering: Newegg is running a $5 instant rebate on it, reducing its price to a scant $59.99. This is big-name-brand memory with a full lifetime warranty, too.
