Friday night topic: Casual gaming

— 5:56 PM on June 22, 2007

We've heard an awful lot about the rise of casual gaming lately, though it doesn't seem to be too sharply defined a concept. This week, I picked up a copy of Geometry Wars on Steam for cheap. Kind of a fun game, and the "Retro Evolved" concept seems to capture the essence of one part of the casual gaming movement. Have you gotten into casual gaming at all, and if so, how? Do you like the idea of cheap, simple games delivered online, or do you prefer more complex and involving fare? Does the success of the Nintendo Wii count as a success for casual gaming, or is it something else? Discuss.
