OCZ intros a new CrossFire-certified power supply

— 10:04 AM on June 27, 2007

Just over a month has passed since OCZ announced its acquisition of premium power supply manufacturer PC Power & Cooling, and already the firm has launched a new PC Power & Cooling PSU for enthusiasts with multi-GPU systems. The new PC Power & Cooling Silencer 750 Quad CrossFire Edition is "tested and qualified under AMD's renowned certification program" and features four PCI Express power connectors, including two 8-pin PCIe power connectors, allowing it to support two Radeon HD 2900 XT or GeForce 8800 Ultra graphics cards out of the box. There's also a total of 15 drive connectors—probably enough to fill most enthusiast enclosures with storage devices and fans of all shapes and sizes.

To power all that hardware, the PC Power & Cooling Silencer 750 Quad CrossFire Edition is rated for 750W of power output and sports a single +12V rail capable of delivering up to 60A (720W) of current. The unit has active power factor correction and an 83% efficiency rating. OCZ also claims the unit is "engineered to be the quietest PSU available," although it has a noise rating of 26-40 dB.
