Barcelona coming in September at up to 2.5GHz?

The fog of uncertainty surrounding AMD's upcoming "Barcelona" quad-core Opterons is beginning to clear—or so it would seem. The guys at The Inquirer claim to have learned of a specific release date, specifications, and even prices for upcoming two-way quad-core Opterons.

Quoting "sources close to AMD's plans in Taiwan," The Inq says AMD has scheduled the Barcelona launch for September 10, and that Barcelona chips will be part of a new Opteron 2300-series lineup. Clock speeds will range from 1.9GHz to 2.5GHz, and power envelopes will scale from 95W to 120W. Pricing will reportedly start at $230 for the 1.9GHz model and go up to $1180 for the second-fastest 2.4GHz chip, but The Inq says the price tag for the 2.5GHz Opteron 2360 has yet to be revealed.
