Fujitsu intros external 2.5" 300GB hard drive

— 12:33 PM on July 3, 2007

Fujitsu recently introduced a 2.5" notebook hard drive with a 300GB capacity as part of its new MHX BT lineup. The Japanese firm is now back in action with another 2.5" 300GB hard drive, this time in external form.

This new 300GB drive is dubbed RE2U300J and is part of Fujitsu's "External Hard Disk Drive" lineup. It has a 4200RPM spindle speed, 8MB of cache, a USB2.0 interface (which, it's worth pointing out, also serves as the drive's power source), and a $229 price tag. Fujitsu has also introduced a cheaper model with a 120GB capacity, a 5400RPM spindle speed, and more reasonable $129 price tag. Warranty coverage for both models is good for a single year, and Fujitsu expects the two drives to become available this quarter.
