Athlon X2 BE series hits (some) stores at last

— 9:42 AM on July 13, 2007

Just over three weeks ago, we issued an amber alert for AMD's low-power Athlon X2 BE-series processors. The chips had launched two weeks prior and were supposed to have been available immediately, but we were unable to find either the Athlon X2 BE-2350 or Athlon X2 BE-2300 for sale anywhere.

Well, TR reader Greg has alerted us to the fact that the BE-2350 model is finally up for sale over at Newegg. The chip costs $95, four bucks more than the price listed on AMD's price list. Newegg also stocks the BE-2300 for $89.50, which is $3.50 higher than the figure in AMD's price list. Looking for better prices on the two chips might prove a fruitless effort, though. Right now, our price search engine only has a listing for the BE-2350, and it shows only one vendor that sells the chip for $113.56. A quick look at stores like TigerDirect, Mwave, and NCIX doesn't reveal additional options, either.
