Public test of Vista SP1 not due 'anytime soon'
Earlier this month, we heard reports that Microsoft was planning to release a beta of the first Windows Vista service pack on July 16. That date has come and gone, and Microsoft has now told the folks at Windows Connected not to expect a public beta of Vista SP1 "anytime soon."
Microsoft stated, "There will be a Windows Vista service pack and our current expectation is that a beta will be made available sometime this year," adding that improvements for Windows Vista were delivered regularly via Windows Update, and that it thinks "customers will have a great experience with Windows Vista today." According to Windows Connected, a "select" group of testers will initially receive the SP1 beta. Microsoft has no set schedule for the release of a public SP1 beta.
