AMD releases 64-bit technology simulator

— 3:14 AM on October 7, 2000

This press release from AMD proclaims that they have just released a new 64-bit x86 simulator allowing developers and testers to perfect their code prior to the release of the 64-bit processor code-named "Hammer." SimNow! is currently available only for Linux and can be downloaded here. Check out this thread for some early feedback. In a similar vein, have a look at an ongoing project at SUNY Stony Brook. Currently in design phase 2 (ooh), this has to be read to be believed: 100-GHz Superconductor Processors for a Petaflops computer. This is pretty intricate but I'm sure you guys can follow along. Since it is a stone's throw from where I live, I may check it out for myself.
