OQO UMPC gets solid-state drive, lower price tag

Five and a half months after shipping its Model 02 ultra-mobile PC, OQO has improved the machine with some extra goodies and a lower price tag. As DailyTech reports, OQO now offers the Model 02 with a 1.6GHz VIA C7-M ULV processor instead of the slower 1.5GHz chip, and users can order the system with a 120GB hard drive or a 32GB solid-state drive. There's also the option for speedier wireless WAN thanks to EV-DO revision A connectivity from Verizon or Sprint.

Perhaps most appealing for users actually interested in nabbing the 02 is its new price; OQO has reduced the cheapest Model 02 system from $1,499 to a somewhat more affordable $1,299. That system comes with a 1.2GHz processor, 512MB of RAM, a 40GB hard drive, and a copy of Windows XP Home Edition.
