Deal of the week: $64 for 2GB of speedy DDR2-800

— 4:43 PM on September 14, 2007

We don't often select mail-in rebate deals as primary contenders for our deal posts, but occasionally we come upon one that's just too good to pass up. Today is one of those days: we've spotted this 2GB Corsair XMS DDR2-800 memory kit over at Newegg. While the kit normally costs $104, Newegg is running a $40 mail-in rebate that takes its price down to a tantalizing $64—and shipping is free on top of that.

$64 is already cheap for 2GB of RAM, but this isn't run-of-the-mill value stuff. This XMS kit is rated for operation at 800MHz with quick 4-4-4-12 timings, and it supports Enhanced Performance Profiles, so compatible motherboards should be able to set correct timings and voltage automatically.
