Valve's Orange Box bundle goes gold

— 2:45 PM on September 27, 2007

The Orange Box game bundle that will include Half-Life 2: Episode Two, Team Fortress 2, and Portal, as well as Half-Life 2 and Half-Life 2: Episode One, has gone gold, Shacknews reports. The site has received official confirmation from Valve Software that the PC and Xbox 360 incarnations of the game have indeed been completed. Valve intends to release the Orange Box for the PC and Xbox 360 on October 10 as planned.

Despite announcing the gold status, Valve apparently wouldn't say when it plans begin pre-loading Episode Two and Portal via Steam. Pre-loading will allow users to play the titles immediately following their launch. As we reported last week, however, Team Fortress 2 is already playable in beta form for folks who pre-ordered the package.
