A new 3D chip and some retrovapor
The folks at Temple of Tech have put together a couple of really interesting interviews this week. First, they cornered one of the Norwegian students involved in Advanced New Technology, a start-up company looking to build a 3D graphics chip. Their design, dubbed Malaik3D, is a tile-based renderer with some lofty-sounding performance goals. This guy is estimating their chip will perform at 6 to 10 times the speed of the KYRO cards, which also use a tile-based rendering scheme.
Just as that vapor was wafting out of the room, the Temple interviewer sat down with Fleecy Moss, the VP of development for (what's left of) Amiga. They chew the fat about new technologies like BOOPS and SHEEP. Really.
