Orange Box bundle hits stores, goes live on Steam

— 9:23 AM on October 10, 2007

As planned, Valve's Orange Box game bundle has now become available for the PC and Xbox 360. The bundle includes Half-Life 2: Episode Two, Team Fortress 2, and Portal, as well as Half-Life 2 and Half-Life 2: Episode One. PC gamers can purchase the pack directly via Valve's own content delivery system, Steam, for $49.95. Those who pre-ordered the bundle and "pre-loaded" the new titles on Steam can unlock them and play straightaway, too.

As its name suggests, Half-Life 2: Episode Two is the next chapter in the Half-Life saga, picking up where Half-Life 2: Episode One left off. Meanwhile, Team Fortress 2 is the highly anticipated, cartoonified remake of the original Team Fortress Classic, and Portal is a first-person puzzle game whose challenges employ a portal system similar to that of Prey. All three titles are based on a new, souped-up version of the Source engine that sports new eye-candy effects like motion blur.
