— 9:37 AM on December 12, 2007

The first service pack for Windows Vista isn't expected until early next year, but Microsoft has released its first service pack for another product that launched at the same time—Office 2007. As DailyTech reports, Office 2007 Service Pack 1 is now available for download from Microsoft's website.

The SP1 download weighs in at 218.3MB, and Microsoft says it "delivers important customer-requested stability and performance improvements, while incorporating further enhancements to user security." Naturally, the service pack also includes all prior updates for Office 2007. Microsoft describes Office 2007 SP1 in more detail on this page, where it lists all issues, security bulletins, and updates associated with the pack. According to an Excel spreadsheet posted on the page, the service pack fixes over 400 problems in total.
