Deal of the week: Nvidia's GeForce 8800 GTS 512MB

— 5:01 PM on April 18, 2008

If you're currently shopping around for a GeForce 8800 GT, you may be able to get away with a GeForce 8800 GTS 512MB for almost the same price. Newegg is currently running a deal on eVGA's GeForce 8800 GTS 512MB "Knock Out" Edition (512-P3-N845-AR) that includes a $10 instant rebate, a $20 promo code, and a $30 mail-in rebate.

The card is normally listed at $259.99, but the instant rebate takes it down to $249.99, and the promo code—"VGA1720" without the quotes—brings it down to a very tantalizing $229.99. You can then cut the price to an effective $199.99 by sending in the mail-in rebate, but we're not fond of MIRs ourselves, and we think this card is still an excellent deal at $229.99.

Indeed, this "Knock Out" Edition model is "factory overclocked" from the stock 650MHz core speed and 970MHz memory speed to a slightly faster 678MHz/972MHz. It's also covered under a lifetime warranty with 24/7 technical support.
