We've been reporting on successive Firefox 3 betas and release candidates for a few weeks. Now, Mozilla developers have announced that they're ready to release the final, "gold" version of Firefox 3.0. According to Mozilla's Mike Beltzner, Firefox 3 will come out next Tuesday (June 17).
Beltzner invites users to join Firefox 3 release parties and, perhaps more importantly, participate in the SpreadFirefox Download Day 2008. The aim of the SpreadFirefox initiative is for as many users as possible to download the new browser on its release day. Over a million people have pledged to participate already, and the SpreadFirefox staff hope to set a Guinness world record.
You can check back on Tuesday for download links and details about the release. In the meantime, the third Firefox 3 release candidate remains available for download.
