Dell releases multi-touch software for Latitude XT

Good news for owners of Dell's Latitude XT convertible tablet PC: Dell has released a software update that adds multi-touch gesture support to the laptop's touch-screen display. The 14-15MB update is available for Windows Vista x86, Windows Vista x64, and Windows XP Tablet PC Edition.

Apparently, the multi-touch functionality works in many standard applications like Firefox, Internet Explorer, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Google Earth, and Vista's Windows Photo Gallery image browser. Dell posted a YouTube video to demonstrate the new feature yesterday. In the video, Dell's Roy Stedman shows how gestures can be used to bump up the text size in Outlook, scroll in a web browser, and zoom, pan, or tilt the camera in Google Earth.

You can grab the software straight from this page. If you have trouble getting it up and running, there's also a video walkthrough up on YouTube to guide users through the installation process.
